Synopsis

In the early 1990’s. Lance Smith’s new show, “Disco Dysfunction”, is panned by critic Wilson Jones. And it’s not the first time. When Lance finds out that Wilson has secretly written a play of his own, he steals the script and sets out to have it produced so he can review it himself: the ultimate revenge. Caught in the middle, leading lady Grace Goodwin finds herself torn between her career and her love for Lance in a story that explores the ups, downs, ins and outs of developing and producing a new show. Lance finds the backing and a director, but Wilson’s continuous rewrites and obsessive personality force the director to resign so Wilson has to take over himself. While there are only three main characters, one of the bonuses of "Just A Play" is the chorus which seems to appear at the drop of a hat whenever a new song comes along.

What Critics Are Saying

"Bojanowski's forte, as always, is his music. "Just A Play" includes one of his most beguiling songs, "The People Out There," and a bow to Stephen Sondheim's modern, minor-key harmonies."

Michael Grossberg — The Columbus Dispatch
